Lately I have been attracted by some advertising banners on Google Ads. They all had one thing in common... boobs!
Funny thing is that they are not at all considered sexy ads, infact they all advertise video games.
ads are the ones with the most interesting evolution,
they passed from a knight to boobs like it was a normal thing to do. Studing their evolution is clear that they gained benefits from it, otherwise why misslead people to something totally different from what you are advertising?
Attracting people with sexual images is not as new as somebody can
think. Walt Disney has done it many times,
using either boobs and phallic symbols.
Subliminal messages are not directly understandable, but at a subconcious level our brain decodes those images as something interesting.
collected few game advertising, all images taken from Google Ads,
so of course none of those advertise any kind of sexual contents.
This one sends a clear message, 2 blonde fairies ready to please you if you "Play with them..."
Evony has the funniest, most interesting evolution of advertising... but i guess it must work very good for them, the only knight they have had in their advertising was only in the first one.
From the following ads I can assume that people tend to click a lot on boobs, so advertisers tend to make them very big.
This last one goes in another direction, the rocket clearly highlights a phallic symbol.
Now I dont have any stats to confirm that this kind of images attract more clicks than others, but it's pretty much sure that they do, otherwise people wouldn't use them so much. The only question I have, is this ethically right?
